April Hunter wrote the following statement on her official website.
While I’m in a chipper carb depleted mood, I thought I’d mention something. I’ve been holding my tongue for far too long. Last month, I turned TNA down. They wanted me to come in as a wrestler and right now, I can only be a manager. I’m banged up and I feel I’ve gone down there too many times already. For nothing to happen yet again but another hope spot and bs-ing? I’m just not up for it. And my heart hasn’t been in wrestling for a while, anyway. Ironically, the day after I said no, they asked Roxxi back. After seeing the treatment they gave her, I can’t help but wonder if that would have been me. The fact that I would even have to ask myself that question…I feel I made the right decision.
I think TNA is missing the boat on women’s wrestling and cruiserweights. This is the niche that founded them…what WWE has consistently left out. This is where they could make themselves stand out. I also think they’re missing the boat on Roxxi. She’s got a unique look and persona – it’s what endears her to fans. She’s not cookie cutter. She’s also one of the best (and safest) females I’ve ever been in a ring with. But most of all, she’s got a stellar work ethic. In a business where so many are content to get by with doing as little as possible, she’ll always give ‘er. I can’t say this about many I’ve crossed paths with in my eleven years in wrestling. I’m coming from a heritage of hard working immigrants, where work ethic means something and entitlement simply doesn’t exist. You earn what you get, and she has.
I am continually disappointed in TNA. They have all the tools, yet can’t figure out how to use them. Dropping the ball is the only thing they excel with.
As a fan, it’s frustrating. As a worker, it’s heartbreaking.
I reckon if Dixie Carter spent half as much time promoting as she does twittering, they might actually have some ratings.
Then again, I could be wrong.
After all, who did I ever beat?
Wish me luck this week! NPC Junior Nationals Figure Competion, Rosemont IL – June 18th-19th.
Apparently there was a lot of heat backstage at last night’s TNA Slammiversary when Roxxi showed up at the building and was informed that her match with Madison Rayne would be with her career on the line and she would be losing. Roxxi was described as “visibly upset” before and after her match. Roxxi was working on a nightly deal with TNA and was brought back to fill the void after Tara left and Angelina Love & Daffney went out with injuries. With Love and Daffney ready to return, it’s possible TNA creative didn’t have anything for Roxxi after last night’s show.
I for one am disgusted with the way that Roxxi left TNA. She deserves so much better than what happened last night. Edited: I got to talk to Nikki on Monday- she’s doing well, and is keeping her head high after what happened. She also said she’s very proud of what she’s achieved in her TNA career. We’re proud of you too, Nikki!
TaylorWilde.Org, the official website of TNA Knockout Taylor Wilde recently conducted an interview with Shantelle herself! Shantelle answered a few questions and also mentioned Nikki in two of them. Thanks to my good friend CJ for the bit! You can read the full interview with Shantelle over here at TaylorWilde.Org!
07: We know that you tag teamed with Roxxi in late ‘08 – early ‘09. You now tag with Sarita, with whom you have held the tag titles with. Do you miss tagging with Roxxi?
Of course I do! She is one of my favourite people to be in the ring and out of the ring with. We have a connection that goes far beyond wrestling. I don’t think I’ve ever made a more honest, and pure connection with anyone. We just get each other, and even though we don’t see each other much anymore due to work and geographic burdens she is someone I cherish and am SO thankful to have in my life. She’s an amazing human being and a rock star, she will get her moment to shine, just you wait.
08: In your opinion, what would be the dream Knockouts match for you be?
Me, Roxxi, Awesome Kong, ODB Vs. Angelina Love, Madison Rayne, Velvet Skye, Lacey. The ultimate motley crew battling against the new and old school Beautiful People. Oh how the claws would com out.
It looks like Christmas did come early for us this year. PWInsider.Com has stated that Nikki will be back with TNA on a regular basis!
It was reported that TNA released Knockout Sojo Bolt. Some weeks or so prior former Knockout Roxxi (Nikki Roxx) made a surprise return. She hasn’t been seen since. What is her status with TNA? Was this just a one time thing? Any chance of Roxxi (Nikki Roxx) returning to TNA full time?
Roxxi will be back with the company on a full-time basis going forward.
Update: Nikki sent out a twitter not to long ago stating she is under the weather and to the doctor’s instead of Jersey. We’d like to wish her a speedy recovery and best wishes
